Hike<\/strong> to one (1) or more of the 5 Catskill Fire Towers between <strong>May 14 <\/strong>and <strong>October 10, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Enter hike details<\/strong> on your Morgan Outdoors\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/morgan-outdoors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Five-Fire-Tower-Passport-2016.pdf\">Five Fire Tower Passport 2016<\/a>.If more<\/p>\n<p>than one person hiked, write their name, age &amp; where they\u2019re from on back of Passport.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a03. Turn in your Passport<\/strong> at Morgan Outdoors by<strong> Monday, October 10<\/strong><sup>th<\/sup>, at \u00a02:00pm, to enter the<\/p>\n<p>drawing for 3 great prizes:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Osprey<\/strong> Daylight pack \u00a0\u00ab \u00a0<strong>Darn Tough<\/strong> Vermont socks\u00a0 \u00ab \u00a0<strong>Klean Kanteen<\/strong> water bottles<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>HISTORY:\u00a0 Years ago, fire observers watched over the Catskill forests from 23 towers, searching for signs of forest fires. Today, <strong>only 5 steel towers remain<\/strong> in the 1,102 square-mile Catskill Park &#8211; restored by volunteers so you can enjoy amazing views. Restorations made possible through partnership between volunteers, NYSDEC and the Catskill Center.<\/p>\n<p>DIFFICULTY:\u00a0 Hikes range from <strong>\u201ckinda\u201d easy<\/strong> to <strong>\u201cgosh darn\u201d tough.<\/strong> Red Hill is a great beginner choice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>MAPS:\u00a0 The <em>NY\/NJ Trail Conference<\/em> produced a special brochure for each Fire Tower, with a trail map and hiking guidelines. Available at Morgan Outdoors or online: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nynjtc.org\/news\/catskill-fire-tower-brochures.\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.nynjtc.org\/news\/catskill-fire-tower-brochures.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>PASSPORT:\u00a0 On weekends, some Fire Towers have volunteers at the summit or covered cans where you can get a fire tower card that proves you have been there. Get one and fill it out!\u00a0 If this is not available, just simply fill out the Passport. The more fire towers you climb, the better your chances of winning a prize. The drawing will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>BADGES: You may earn a Catskill Fire Towers badge when you turn in your Passport \u2013 at Morgan Outdoors or by mail with stamped self-addressed envelope.
