Cele\"Rick<\/a>brate National Trails Day<\/a> weekend<\/h3>\n

with a hike on New York’s longest trail – the Finger Lakes Trail (FLT)<\/a><\/h3>\n

co-sponsored by the Catskill Mountain Club<\/a> and Morgan Outdoors.<\/h3>\n

the FLT Coordinator for the Catskill section (90 miles of trail),<\/h3>\n

and hike leader!<\/h3>\n

Rick constructed several connecting FLT trail sections in our area.<\/p>\n

12:00pm<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Meet at Morgan Outdoors for a brief intro to the 580-mile Finger Lakes Trail, which passes through the Catskills just 10 miles north of the town.<\/p>\n

12:30pm\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 Drive to Balsam Lake Mountain trailhead to hike to Balsam Lake Mountain firetower, traversing a section of the Finger Lakes Trail.<\/p>\n

HIKE:\u00a0 The hike (3.5 miles roundtrip) is a rock scramble ascent to the fire tower; MODERATE difficulty.<\/p>\n

Great views at the summit.<\/p>\n

BRING snack or lunch to enjoy on summit, water, sturdy boots, insect repellent. We rent Leki hiking poles (great for the hike back down!)<\/p>\n
