Come sit around the map table with us<\/strong> and we\u2019ll teach you the basics! Topo maps show the shape of the earth\u2019s surface with contour lines. These lines represent changes in elevation so we can measure the height of mountains and the steepness of slopes \u2013 great info for planning a hike in the Catskills!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Past participants have remarked that this old-school skill is not only fun but super useful when our electronics fail. One lucky registrant will win a topographic map to take home<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n ONLINE REGISTRATION required: <\/strong>Please register early on the Catskill Lark in the Park\u2019s website<\/a>: <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n There is only room for 6 participants<\/strong> around the map table. One of them might be you! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday, October 8, 4:00 – 5:30 PM<\/u>,<\/strong> leave work early and join us for a Loop de Loop Hike<\/strong> in Mongaup Pond State Park. This woodland hike is a 2.2-mile loop around scenic Frick Pond that is suitable for beginner hikers<\/strong> comfortable walking this distance.
