1:00-3:00pm

the public is invited to join the

Tortoise and Hare Hike

in nearby Mongaup State Park. We’re celebrating the

16th annual Catskills Lark in the Park

This woodland hike offers two choices, so both beginner and intermediate hikers can join in. “Tortoises” will enjoy a 2.2-mile loop around scenic Frick Pond, and the “Hares” will enjoy a brisk 4.1 mile scamper, with a little more uphill. Pick the hike that best fits your ability. The trail surface includes rocky terrain and some beautiful old pathways through the woods. Bring water and snacks; wear waterproof shoes or boots for some wet sections.

We will meet at 1:00pm at Frick Pond Trailhead, Beech Mtn. Road, Mongaup State Park, Livingston Manor, NY. Trip leaders are Lisa Lyons of Morgan Outdoors and Heather Jacksy of SC Planning, two of the partner organizations behind TrailKeeper.org which is celebrating 6 years as an online source of trail information in Sullivan County.

REGISTER: by October 5th. There’s a simple registration form at catskillslark.org. Pick either Tortoise or Hare. If you want to change later, you can! Group size is limited, so register early. No dogs on this hike but energetic children welcome.
