Hike to Red Hill Fire Tower

Claryville, NY.

There are a few spots left so register soon. Many of you tell us you’d like to hike to a fire tower . . . so we planned it all for you!

This is the shortest trail to a fire tower – just 1.4 miles each way. Tree roots and loose rock on the trail but very manageable. We use hiking poles for the descent. You can rent Leki poles $5/pair.  On the summit: picnic tables, the world’s cleanest outhouse, a ranger cabin and, of course, the tower. A volunteer will have cab on top open for us. Gorgeous 360-degree views. Bring water, snacks, camera, hiking poles. Wear layered clothing to add/subtract as needed.

MEET: at Red Hill Trailhead at 1:00pm. We supply driving directions when you RSVP.

We leave Morgan Outdoors at 12:15pm: option to carpool. RSVP to 845 439 5507.

Stop and see Pure Country Revisited, exhibition of photographs by LaVerne Black, Silver gelatin photographs of country life, at Daniel Pierce Library, adjacent to Time and the Valleys Museum, Grahamsville. Open Tuesdays – Saturdays.  On display through Sept. 31st.
