We are leading two events during the 20th Annual Catskill Lark in the Park – celebrating the awesome Catskill Park with 10 days of guided outings and programs!

Tuesday, October 8, 4:00 – 5:30 PM, leave work early and join us for a Loop de Loop Hike in Mongaup Pond State Park. This woodland hike is a 2.2-mile loop around scenic Frick Pond that is suitable for beginner hikers comfortable walking this distance. Reflections of changing colors in the pond will have you reaching for your camera!

Register for the hike at the Catskill Lark in the Park website. While you are there, check out the other free events and outings across the Catskills and read about the amazing Annual Lark in the Park!

Friday, October 11, 5:30 – 6:30 PM we’re hosting Topo Map Reading for Beginners

Have you ever wanted to learn what a topographic map is and how to make sense of all those squiggly lines? Come sit around the map table with us and we’ll teach you the basics! Topo maps show the shape of the earth’s surface with contour lines. These lines represent changes in elevation so we can measure the height of mountains and the steepness of slopes – great info for planning a hike in the Catskills!

Past participants have remarked that this old-school skill is not only fun but super useful when our electronics fail. One lucky registrant will win a topographic map to take home!

ONLINE REGISTRATION required: Please register early on the Catskill Lark in the Park’s website:

There is only room for 6 participants around the map table. One of them might be you!
