Join Liberty Parks & Recreation, members of Renegades Mountain Bike Club, and Morgan Outdoors, on Wednesday, October 26th for a Guided Fall Hike at Walnut Mountain Park in Liberty, New York. The 60-minute roundtrip walk, along a wide graded carriage road, begins promptly at 5:00pm to take advantage of daylight. The walk to the infamous Witches Rock, includes a little local history and a stop to take in the sunset and amazing fall views from an overlook. The variety of trees found on Walnut Mountain adds a colorful panorama along the way. The walk is a 1-mile moderate up hill climb.

Walnut Mountain is a 265 acre Town Park which has been part of a recently-completed mountain bike trail system, built by volunteers of the regionally-based Renegades Mountain Bike Club.  It’s a great opportunity to meet some of the Renegades volunteers and learn more about their contribution to Liberty Parks & Recreation’s trail network.

Meet at the baseball field parking area, using the William Pearson entrance at the end of Walnut Mountain Road (off Route 55, west of the village.) Bring a flashlight or headlamp for the walk down and warm layers to wear after the sun sets.

RSVP by Tuesday, October 25th to Liberty Parks and Recreation, (845) 292-7690 or [email protected] or contact Lisa Lyons at Morgan Outdoors in Livingston Manor, (845) 439-5507.   The rain date for the hike is Thursday October 27th.  For driving directions and additional park details CLICK HERE
